Looking forward to spring and flowers, I wanted to create a lightweight tam/beret style hat for my granddaughter and the crisp cool days ahead when a head covering is still needed.
The great thing about this hat is the snug fitting brim and how much it stretches. I tried the hats on three granddaughters - 6 mo., 3 yrs, and 5 yrs and they fit each of them without adjustments. The I-cord can be tied tighter or looser accordingly.
Caron Simply Soft 100% acrylic yarn was used for the hats pictured. It's extremely soft yarn and machine washable.
Use your judgment as far as buttons are concerned and the age of the child wearing the hat.
