(6) Name: 'Knitting : Dyade

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit
  • Purl
  • Basic lace stitches (YO, SSK, k2tog)
  • Knit in-the-round

Pattern Description:

Accessorize in style this winter with a cozy, oversized cowl and matching fingerless mitts that feature a unique lace stitch pattern coupled with twisted ribbing. This set is quick to knit, and even easier to size, making it perfect for last minute gift knitting - or yourself, of course!


Cowl: 22 sts and 18 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in twisted rib, slightly stretched or blocked

Mitts: 28.5 sts and 48 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch, unblocked

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Small Cowl: 12" (30.5 cm) wide; 9.5" (24 cm) tall when laid flat. 24" (61 cm) circumference
  • Medium Cowl: 13.5" (34.25 cm) wide; 10" (25.5 cm) tall when laid flat. 27" (68.5 cm) circumference
  • Cowl size easily modified by increasing/decreasing stitch count as noted in pattern
  • Mitts: One size. 3.25" (8 cm) wide; 7" (18 cm) tall when laid flat, unstretched. 6.5" (16.5 cm) circumference.
  • Mitts shown on hand that measures 7.5" (19 cm) around knuckles. 1" (2.5 cm) negative ease intended. Adjust needle size as needed to achieve gauge or to size mitts up or down.


  • 1 (2) skeins Fiberphile MCN Luxe Sock (80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon, 375 yards/343 m Fingering Weight yarn per 115g skein
  • OR approx 355 yards/325 m (430 yards/393 m) of any heavy fingering weight yarn.
  • Mitts will need approx 140 yards/128 m
  • Cowl will need approx 215 yards/197 m (290 yards/265 m)
  • For Mitts: US 1 (2.25 mm) set of double pointed needles OR 40" or longer circular needle for magic looping
  • For Cowl: US 6 (4 mm) 16" (24") circular needle
