I’m Katie – the dynamic dyer behind www.ShopYarnLove.com . I love to knit, spin and design patterns. I’ve recently made my way into designing knit wear patterns and have been thoroughly enjoying it! If you check my blog, you’ll see some of my designs before they’re released!
Some random facts:
I am 31 years old, live in a small town in the Midwest (USA) across the street from a cornfield, and all most of the walls in my home are painted some version of brown. The ones that aren’t brown are a deep, cranberry red. I think coffee and dessert are the best foods ever! A day is never complete without both.
When I’m not dyeing, knitting or designing you might find me reading, brewing beer or watching a movie with my husband.
Enjoy this flirty combination of cables and lace! Your choice of color determines whether these socks will be the focal point of your outfit or a secret indulgence.
Toe up, with a short row heel. This pattern doesnt feature a gusset, but you could easily add one of youd like. Be aware that the fabric is extremely stretchy and youll most likely need only the scantiest of gussets if you choose to insert one.
Intermediate difficulty. Familiarity with basic cables and lace a plus.
About the Designer:
This pattern was dreamed up by a girl named Katie (thats me!) I run a one-person yarn studio in the heart of the Midwest, where I dye yarn, design patterns, and knit/crochet into the wee hours of the morning. When Im not wound up in yarn I enjoy reading (ok, I admit I mostly listen to audio books so I can knit at the same time!), watching movies with my family, and cooking.
Solid and semi-solid yarns are the best choice for the detailed fabric of Cupcake. If you find a very low saturation, or muted multi-color yarn that will work as well. (See the example photos!) If you prefer a little more color interest, heat things up with contrasting toes, heels and cuffs, rather than an overall bold colorway.
High contrast, multi-color yarns. The pattern details wont show when knit in a busy yarn.
