About the designer

I've been crafting since forever, knitting fanatically since about 2006 and designing since 2008. When not knitting, I teach university students about primates and play with my horses.

(6) Name: 'Knitting : Cranberry Cable Socks
Cranberry Cable Socks

Cranberry Cable Socks

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • chart reading
  • picking up stitches
  • cabling
  • knitting in the round

Pattern Description:

Top-down cabled sock featuring a cable-pattern heel flap and toe. Pattern includes written instructions as well as charts for the cuff/heel cables, main cable pattern, as well as for the cabled toe decreases.

NOTE: Cables do make the knitting a bit less stretchy than lacy or ribbed patterns so if you're concerned about the pattern pulling in too much, go up to size US 2.5 or 3 needles.

I did dye this yarn using Wilton's frosting dye but this color was an "accident" so I don't have notes to replicate it - sorry!

30 sts/44 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 68-st size

  • 350+ yards fingering weight sock yarn
  • US size 2 needles
  • cable needle

Suggested yarn:

350 yards of Fingering weight
