(6) Name: 'Knitting : Cosmopolitan

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • bind off in the middle of a row
  • backwards loop cast on

Pattern Description:

You could call this scarf the Goldilocks scarf. Designed for weather that's not too hot, not too cold, but just right, Cosmopolitan adds a touch of style to your business wardrobe. Cosmopolitan features square holes that form a visual ladder. The scarf is worked in one piece, with no seaming, using a series of central bind-offs and cast-ons to create each square hole. You will need to weave in ends, though, so I recommend working those in as you go.

This pattern adapts well to other gauges and fibers. Knit it as I did in a dk weight bamboo for exceptional drape and a light sheen, or make it your own with a hand-dyed worsted weight. Make it short, and wear it as an ascot, or add squares for a figure-flattering lengthening effect. It's up to you.
