Pattern Description:

This shawl pattern is pretty easy yet not boring at all to knit. It's named after the Colovaria spell from the Harry Potter books. A great way to use up a couple of those gorgeous skeins of colorful hand dyed sock yarn.

Detailed yarn requirements:
Any fingering weight yarn - I recommend using a solid and a variegated colorway.
Color A: 150-200 yards.
Color B: 370-420 yards.

20 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in stockinette (blocked)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Width: 56" - Depth at point of triangle: 23". (adjustable)


  • Size US 8 / 5 mm 29" or 32" circular needle
  • 550 yards of fingering weight yarn

  • tapestry needle
  • scissors
  • 4 stitch markers
