Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit (flat and in the round)
  • purl
  • single decreases (ssk, k2tog)
  • double decreases (k3tog)
  • lifted increases (m1) and yarn overs (yo)

Pattern Description:

With a lucky four-leafed clover at the middle, this pattern can sprout into a V-shaped, square or rectangular shawl depending on the instructions you follow.

This pattern is both written and charted.

It is designed to be knit in a lace or fingering weight yarn. Use the weight of yarn that you prefer and needles appropriate for your yarn.


Gauge needed to make the lace visibile after blocking.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • V-shaped: 36" from tip to end of V, "arms" are 12" wide
  • Square: 24" square(~500 yds), more yarn needed for larger square
  • Rectangular: 12" wide, 60" long


  • 500-850yds (457-594m) lace weight yarn OR
  • 450 - 800 yds (549-732m) fingering weight yarn
  • a set of 5 double pointed needles and a circular needle appropriate for your yarn (e.g., US4/3.5mm for lace, US7/4.5mm for fingering)

You Will Also Need:

  • darning needle
  • stitch markers
