Basic Skills Necessary:

  • understanding of cables and how to work them
  • working in the round and flat
  • ability to work i-cord

Pattern Description:

A fun bag (or pillow top) I designed for a cable-knitting class.

This 10.5 x 10.5 "messenger bag" is not only a useful bag, but also a great way to show-off your cabling skills. I've given you directions for knitting this in the round, with the flap worked flat -- it's done all in one piece so that the only finish work is sewing the bottom closed and putting on a button. Worked in a worsted- weight wool, you can knit-up this classic accessory in a weekend.

Directions are charted and round-by-round. I've also given you clear instructions for turning this bag into a removable pillow top.

16sts x 28 rnds = 4" stockinette, worked in the round and blocked
