The slouchy beret style hat, more fashionable than practical, has become increasingly popular. This design was inspired by the Cali Cowl from Jamison Wieser (ccknits.livejournal.com). I originally created this hat to match a cowl that I had made for myself. And of course I had to make a matching one for my daughter! I love the open net-like lace pattern that encourages you to wear hats year-round. You can make it a real beret by knitting less rounds in the middle or turn it into a rasta hat by adding even more. Whatever you do, enjoy it and wear it well!

I first learned to knit about 12 years ago from my mother. I have been knitting seriously for about 6 years. I mostly enjoy knitting small things and I'm continuously inspired by my 2 year old daughter. I have been designing for about 2 years and I also crochet and sew some. You can follow the latest projects of me and my mom at artsintertwined.com. You can see my other artwork at willagoldthwaite.com. I'm looking forward to learning and finding inspiration here on craftsy. Hopefully I can inspire you, too!
