While the color work in this pattern appears complex it is an excellent first color work project as it uses a simple technique that, for most of the pattern, allows the knitter to only be knitting with one color at a time, and which produces a warm and thick fabric. Techniques are completely and thoroughly explained in the pattern.
24 stitches to 4" in Slipped stitch pattern blocked. 20 stitches to 4" in stockinette stitch blocked
Nina Machlin Dayton has been knitting, designing and teaching for over 35 years. Her first professional job was as a hand knitter for couturier designer Joan Vass in the early 1980s and she never looked back. A native New Yorker, Nina currently lives in western Massachusetts with her husband, daughter, 2 cats and a dog in an old Victorian house filled to the rafters with yarn and books.
