I have the hardest time understanding how to knit the thumb. It's confusing to me. I followed the pattern up to Row 3, where it says to K1, M1, K4, M1, K1. Then, it directs me to continue until I have 22 increased stitches. Continue what? The pattern I just described? Why did I have to put a place marker? What purpose does it serve? Row 4 suggest to knit across, put 17 INCREASED stitches onto a needle holder, then knit across. At this point, I don't have 17 increased stitches! Remember? I was supposed to have 22, but the instructions don't tell me how. So, I'm stuck and frustrated. Could someone, please help me?
Kisso, the placement marker indicates, where your increases begin, (the knit to end), you should have a few stitches to knit, after the last increase = 8 total stitches, on your first increase round. The next round, you will knit all stitches (no increases made this round. So, every other round, you will be increasing 2 stitches, beginning at the placement marker. I made a typo on the 17 increased stitches, it should read 22. Those go onto the stitch holder, once all increases are made, every other round. I hope that helps.
Okay, that helped a bit. So, I just keep increasing 2 stitches on every other round, right? Until I have 22 stitches. Sorry for being such a dufus. I mean I finished the gloves my own way, but I hate it when I'm unable to make sense of something. Thank you for your help.
