  • Intermediate - working in the round, simple increases and decreases and finishing.

Pattern Description:

Blackfriars beret is inspired by the remaining cloister of the old friary building standing in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, which now housing a range of craft shops.

All over cable pattern grows naturally from the brim into the hat's body and further into the crown, with shaping integreated into the pattern.
The cable pattern is both charted and written out as a line by line instructions.


22 sts and 28 rnds = 4in / 10cm in Stocking Stitch using 3.75mm (US 5) needles

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • TO FIT SIZE 18 (20, 22, 24) in / 45.5 (51, 56, 61) cm head circumference. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 16 1/4 (18, 20, 21 3/4) in / 41.5 (46, 51, 55.5) cm brim circumference.


  • Artesano 100% Alpaca DK (109 yds / 100m / 50g) in colour Fern C743; 2 balls.
