canna seem to find that "free" pattern itself eigther. maybe thats the reason its free,that it actually doesnt give you the pattern.

Cast on a multiple of 12 stitches + 2 selvage stitches to make the scarf as wide as you need. Happy knitting :-)

LOVE Love love the way this looks nut am unclear about the instructions for the even rows of " knit the stitches as they present themselves" . Please explain. many thanks!

I think it means if it is a knit appearing stitch, knit - if it apears to be a purl stitch, purl

It sounds to me like knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches. So if the stitch is smooth knit it. If it is a bump then purl it.
