Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Ability to work in the round on double-pointed needles, with Magic Loop, or two circulars

Pattern Description:

THESE BASIC, EASY SOCKS can be worked in Stockinette Stitch or ribbing or you can add color work or texture to this basic pattern. The pattern includes eight sizes so you can knit socks for the entire family!

Double Cast-On
The Dutch Heel
The Wide Toe
Kitchener Stitch

Theory boxes, photographs and schematic are included.


In St st: 7 sts and 10 rows / inch


  • Yarn: For a lighter, thinner sock: sock yarn (50g/ 215 yds/skein): 1(1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3) skeins
  • Yarn: For a denser, warmer sock: Guernsey yarn or sport weight (100g/ 245 yds/skein): 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3) skeins
  • Needles: Size 2 dpn, or size needed to obtain gauge
