Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic knitting skills
  • Knitting in the round with dpns/circular ndls
  • Increases/decreases
  • Working intermediate cables from chart or written instructions
  • Knowledge of conventional sock construction

Pattern Description:

Balin is a unisex sock pattern in two sizes worked top-down with a cable pattern on the front and double seed stitch on the back. The pattern continues onto the heel flap. The socks are nished with a spiral toe that doesn't require grafting. The cables will be shown to best advantage in a solid or semi-solid yarn. The pattern has a moderate amount of stretch but it is recommended to try on the sock as you knit to ensure a good fit. Both charted and written instructions are included.

This pattern is available as a single download. It is also published in the ebook collection, Homestead Cables: http://knottygnome.blogspot.com/p/knottygnome-designs-for-sale.html#homestead
