Pattern Description:

It is its simple naivety that makes this hat so cute and timeless. It is so simple to knit that I decided to offer it for free! - an ideal taster for anyone who has not tried my patterns before.
If you are a beginner knitter or new to knitting in the round, this is an ideal pattern to try.
The pattern gives instructions for 5 sizes from preemie to 2 years and includes photographs of all the stages. It may be free, but it has all the attention to detail as the rest of my patterns.
Hate sewing up? - There are only two loose ends to weave in when you're done knitting - hooray!!
There is a pattern for baby mittens which would go very well with this hat on my blog:

22sts and 28 rows to 10x10cm (4x4") square over stockinette

  • 3 - 6 months

Excellent just the begining  May 30, 2013

I needed a smaller hat as I was knitting for really premature babies.
I only started with 46 stiches and folled pattern until it was 8cm and then followed dec pattern to end.
very easy to adapt. thank you so much for the free pattern. I also knitted on 2 neddles and just stiched up the back. turned out lovely. one done and now to use up all the odd wool I have over for a really good baby centre.x

Excellent Will try this again!  October 23, 2012

Super cute & very simple, quick, easy pattern. Good first project to try if you've never used double pointed needles before.

I've crafted all my life. I learned to knit and sew at about the age of 4 and haven't looked back. I made my own wedding dress, and I spent many happy years as a designer/tutor for UK papercraft companies and I have written magazine projects for papercraft. knitting and sewing. Now happily retired, I spend most of my time crafting! :)
