Pattern Description:

This beaded handbag was inspired by Arwen's butterfly headpiece and her green coronation dress as portrayed in the Lord of the Rings series. The butterfly motif, which is beaded and hand-stitched, transforms this easy bag into a stunning accessory.

Full color pictures and a beading diagram will guide you through each step. The techniques in the pattern include I-cord, picot edging, and sewn on beads.


21 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The handbag measures 8" tall x 21" around. Different sizes can be achieved using different needle sizes and different yarn weight.


  • US 7 (4.5mm) needles
  • Narrow sewing needle

You Will Also Need:

  • Silver sewing thread
  • Plastic Canvas silver metallic yarn
  • 30 Silver tube beads
  • 12 Sliver oblong beads
  • 900 Silver lined Clear glass beads
  • One large novelty bead
