A friend wanted a shawl for a gift for a bride. After looking through existing patterns, I decided to adapt one of mine that I had written a few years ago, inspired by an angora shawl knit in the fifties.
This shawl gently drapes over the shoulders and neatly closes in the front by pulling one end through the other. Perfect in white for a bride.
Contrasting textures create a lacy and elegant effect. The "closure" is a little tricky, but the directions are very detailed. An easy, quick project for the intermediate knitter, challenging for the advanced beginner.
14 sts + 4in, looser than recommended on the label.
250 yards of Worsted weight
My design philosophy: My designs are a mixture of traditional and non-traditional elements. My patterns are easy to read and are often based on simple shapes and techniques that minimize complicated finishing. The majority of my patterns are accessories so sizing is often not critical. My love of texture and color shows up in my ability to mix yarns and to match yarns to particular styles.
