Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit in the round
  • Decreases and YOs for lace work
  • Follow a chart OR written instructions

Pattern Description:

Aestas is a light and airy beret, perfect for warm summer days or for a light hat for fall or spring. The lace pattern is sophisticated yet easy enough for a beginner. Aestas is designed to coordinate with the Solis gloves.

(Aestas is the Latin word for summer.)


5.5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch on US 5 needles


  • 170-210 yards of fingering weight yarn
  • US 3/ 3.25mm 16" circulars or DPNs
  • US 5/ 3.75mm 16" circulars or DPNs
  • Cable needle or extra DPN
  • Darning needle
  • Stitch markers (optional)
