I made a sweater with this same idea and had leftover yarn.
So i designed this hat to use up that extra yarn.
This is the first hat pattern I wrote myself.
This hat has three separate layers that surround the
head and ears with extra warmth while a lacy top allows
for more air flow.
A worsted wt yarn suggested for the adult and sport wt for the child.
5(6) sts and 7.5(9) rows per inch in stockinette stitch. Childs is in ( ). a
Adult (21") and child (16.5") approximate.

I grew up surrounded by a family that appreciates art and crafts. I first learned to sew. Then embroider. Then, reluctantly, knitting.
I knit every day. and it has been 30 years.
I also am a batik on silk artist. Something I have been playing with for over 20 years. And while I have never taken a class I have invented my own personal style.
