Pattern Description:

27 Knots is a DK weight sock suitable for boots! The name came from the cable pattern. It looks like it might be blowing away...so I came up with 27 knots! My husband is a Tugboat Captain so we measure wind in "knots" or nautical miles per hour. 27 knots is Gale Force, strong enough to blow away lots of stuff, including a cable. So there's a complicated story for an odd name. The pattern includes instructions for altering the length of the sock so that you can customize the fit!

Approximately 264 yards of a DK weight yarn.
I used just over 1 skein of Sweet Fibers Merino Twist DK
Colour: Shipwreck

6 sts / 8 rows = 1"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Adult sized sock with instructions to customize length

  • 3.75mm dpn, cable needle, stitch markers
  • 265 yds DK weight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry Needle

Sweet Fiber Merino Twist DK

Hi, my name is Moira Engel or "The Backloop Designs". I live on the West Coast of Canada and am married to a Tugboat Captain. So warm woolies for wet weather are essential! I don't try to be a little outside of the box but that seems to be where I always end up!
