I walked into a very trendy vintage shop and the owner commissioned me to knit a beret. This pattern is the result. After making the plain stockinette stitch version I wanted to get a little creative and I decided to go with a simple lace pattern. I used a brushed alpaca yarn for the originals but other yarns can be substituted.
Both berets are worked in the round, one is stockinette stitch topped with an I-cord knob. The other one is worked in a lace pattern. Experience with working in the round, making an I-cord or following a simple 4 row repeat lace pattern is helpful.
Good for the advanced beginner to intermediate knitter.
My design philosophy: My designs are a mixture of traditional and non-traditional elements. My patterns are easy to read and are often based on simple shapes and techniques that minimize complicated finishing. The majority of my patterns are accessories so sizing is often not critical. My love of texture and color shows up in my ability to mix yarns and to match yarns to particular styles.
