Working in Washington, D.C. involves a fair number of frustrations, but I can't deny that it also provides much inspiration. As I made my way down 17th Street from the subway one morning, I spotted a fellow commuter wearing a coat with ruffles running down the sleeves. I thought I could try
something similar with a pair of gloves, and the 17th Street design was born.
Columns of eyelet stitches decorate the index fingers, providing a hint of detail while still keeping out the cold. The cuffs unbutton, allowing the
wearer to tuck sleeves in and fasten over them, for extra warmth.

I taught myself to knit with a copy of Knitting for Dummies 5 years ago, and haven't looked back since. I've expanded into designing knitwear and writing knitting patterns, and occasionally dabble in dyeing and spinning as well.
