Pattern Description:
Do you have a collection of cherished charms you'd like to wear, but don't want to just slide them all on a chain?
This cute little tutorial shows you how to make a simple but elegant pendant to hold those cherished charms. The bottom heart opens so you can add to or rearrange your treasured collection.
This is a high-level beginner project, you should at least have a decent grasp on basic skills, and terminology.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Can make the pendant any size you like.
Materials:
- 7 to 12 in. (17.8 to 30.5cm) 16ga 1/2 hard round wire. (depending on the size of the pendant you want to make.) Dead soft wire is not recommended.
- 2 or 3, 6mm (or larger) closed jump rings.
- *Round nose pliers and/or *bail pliers.
- *Chain nose pliers,
- *wire rounder or file.
- Optional: Bench block and chasing hammer.
- Don't forget the little extra necessities. :)A good ruler, cleaning/polishing cloth (I like Sunshine cloths, a permanent marker (Sharpie is the best), and 'cheater' magnifying glasses *grin*

I keep a sketch book with me all the time, and drive friends nuts - Very often I'll be in the middle of a sentence, when an idea pops in my head, and I immediately scramble for my book to jot it down, or start picking up materials to work it out before the idea falls out of my head. I have even pulled out of traffic, cutting off a police officer in the process to write down my thoughts. I was so intent on my thoughts, I didn't realize I was holding up a "wait a minute finger" to that same police officer. When I finally looked up, explained what I was doing, and showed him my book, he could only shake his head, and warn me drive more carefully.
I have been creating wire wrapped jewelry for almost 25 years, and have been teaching wire wrapping professionally for more than 10 years. New designs I test on myself (and willing guinea pigs, err umm friends) for wearablity and durability. On average, I make tutorial designs roughly 15 to 30 times (honestly - not an exaggeration!) before I write a tutorial to make sure it is easily repeatable, and not just a happy fluke. Bet I could give Zales a run for it's money on ring stock alone :))
Sometimes I miss the normal perks that come with a 'regular job' - you know - vacations, sick days, dental - but only sometimes. When I start to miss them, I just remind myself of the really great perks I do have - like making my own hours, playing with pretty shiny things all day, and working in my jammies if I want too :D
