I was first introduced to beading when my mom, Lane Landry, a realistic watercolor and pastel artist (among other things), had major surgery and we were looking for an artist hobby that we could do together while she was on the mend. So, we took a beginning beading class! Living with an artistic mom, I dabbled in a lot of different mediums and crafts growing up, but once I started beading I couldn?t stop! I loose time doing it. What I like about beading is that it is a very forgiving hobby. Unlike watercolor painting, if you make a mistake stitching with beads then you can easily take off the beads and try it again! I?ve done plenty of that!
I visited my local bead store so often that they eventually just hired me! I was very fortunate because I learned even more working there, and after a while, I started designing my own beading patterns and teaching adult beading classes. My mom and I started a business together called Bloomin? Artist, teaching art and jewelry making classes, parties and summer camps to kids. We had a lot of fun, but with the struggling economy, we had to move onto other endeavors.
I have an older neighbor who makes beautiful handmade quilts that she used to sell at our local farmer?s market, but when her health started to decline she asked me to help her set up an Etsy shop so she could still sell her quilts. I had been wanting to set up a shop of my own for years, but was too nervous to get started. In helping my neighbor, I was able to get my feet wet and see how much fun it is to have an online shop and to be able to share and interact with people all around the world! If you are thinking about opening up your own Etsy or Craftsy shop then go for it! I highly recommend it!
Thank you so much for visiting, and I hope you have fun living inspired!
