Now that you've mastered "Basic Kumihimo" it's time to ramp it up a notch - BEADS! This tutorial teaches how to add beads to Kumihimo. The project taught in this tutorial is a two color spiral weave. It is recommended that you make the tutorial project with size 8 seed beads and S-Lon (or the equivalent) the first time you try this. I know you'll want to jump right in with pearls, gemstones and the like, resist the urge and take the time to master the bead tucking technique. Using multiple sizes of beads in one Kumihimo actually takes this tutorial from "intermediate" to "advanced." If you've not taken the time to become skilled at tucking the beads, your project will be a mess - guaranteed.
Everything you need to know about moving up to using "advanced" beads is included at the end of this tutorial. In addition to the step by step tutorial for Beaded Kumihimo, there are an additional seven layouts outlining how to step up to multiple size bead Kumihimo. Also included are ideas for finishing the ends and adding a focal bead type clasp for versatility.
This is really fun, and addicting - the results can be spectacular!!! Lets do the "Kumi Pokey"!
