Matthew's Celtic Key Tile

from Elves at Work
(10) Name: 'Embroidery : Matthew's Celtic Key Tile
Matthew's Celtic Key Tile Matthew's Key Tile

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Simple backstitch (Blackwork) stitching on counted thread fabric (Aida cloth or evenweave fabric).

Pattern Description:

Blackwork or Backstitch designs work up so quickly, because only one color of embroidery floss is used, so there are no confusing chart symbols to keep track of, and a minimum of supplies are necessary to complete your project.

These Celtic designs will impress your friends with your stitching skill. They look complex, but are so easy to stitch, as you only need to know the simple backstitch to complete each design.

Work like a pro. Mark the center of your fabric, and work your design from the center out. This will make keeping track of your place on the chart much easier, and ensure that your design will always be perfectly centered on your fabric.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished size of design is approximately 7x7".

  • 12x12" 14-count Aida or 28-count Evenweave fabric.

You Will Also Need:

  • Embroidery needle, scissors, and hoop or stretcher frame.
