Pattern Description:

Do you love to go on adventures? Matilda would be great company. She lives in a tree house next to an abandoned nature reserve. Matilda and her brother and sister are friends with the animals there. Matilda also lives with her pet dog, Ginger.

Matilda is an easy to make felt toy. The only materials needed are craft felt, embroidery floss and a bit of stuffing. All the stitches are a simple straight stitch. The patterns are full size. A child 7 or older can make this project with a little adult help.

The full size pattern includes:
Ginger, her dog
Matilda's clothes- dress, pants, shirt, boots, riding helmet, coat, scarf and hat
Ginger's bed and food bowl

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Completed size of Matilda : 4 1/2 inches (11 cm) tall.


  • 10x5 inch (25x13cm) piece red felt for coat and hat
  • 5x7 inch (13x18cm) piece cream felt for Matilda
  • Small felt pieces in tan, green, blue, white, pink, brown, light blue and purple
  • Embroidery floss in tan, pink, blue, purple, russet and cream
  • Small handful of polyfil or stuffing

You Will Also Need:

  • Needle for embroidery
  • Sharp scissors
  • Fine point markers in blue, black and red for Matilda's eyes, nose and smile
  • 5-6 straight pins
