Embroidery has been in my family since the beginning and something the elderly women were very strict with. My embroidery has a freedom to color outside the box, but that probably had to do with the 70's styles when I was stitching on jackets, jeans, bags and making embroidered men's shirts to sell while I worked my way through commercial art classes. In 2001 I began designing for the American Small Farm magazine with a monthly embroidery pattern in my feature called "Homeland Treasures". The following year McCall Pattern Co. published a couple of my patriotic patterns and I was very honored by that. I continued designing and stitching for ASF magazine until it closed in 2010 and now am working at publishing my 100+ patterns on my own site at www.HomelandTreasures.etsy.comView all patterns by designer (8) »
"Island Daze" reflects warm sunny days sitting on the beach sipping on a cold one. Stitching the design there is great, but if you can't do that, try it at home and dream! You can then print out the full size pattern design, colored picture along with crewel embroidery stitch guide and detailed instructions. The actual pattern prints on two pages that overlap to form the full size design, making a total of four pages in all. The finished design measures 13 1/2" x 10 1/4" and is shown in a frame measuring 14" x 18".
