Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic embroidery skills

Pattern Description:

The scrolling stems and magnificent leaves often seen in tradition Jacobean crewel work was my inspiration for this Blue Elegance. I chose a fresh colour palette to give it a more contemporary look and used a wide variety of stitches to add texture and interest.

'Blue Elegance' is a fabulous piece, if you are new to crewel work or wish to practise your skills on a small project. The square panel is the perfect size for a cushion insert or a small bag.

This pattern contains full size embroidery design, clear colour photographs and diagrams and detailed instructions to guide you step-by-step through stitching this design.

Crewel embroidery is one of my favourite embroidery techniques. From the traditional Jacobean to the more contemporary play with colour and design, there is so much to explore. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

You Will Also Need:

  • A stitch directory might be handy - clear illustrations show you how to apply the stitches.
