It's Samus Aran, heroine of the Nintendo action game, Metroid, wearing her Varia suit of armor--but in small, squishable, yarn form.
How she came to be: a friend asked me if I could crochet the Samus character in the amigurumi style, and behold, here is my yarn interpretation. If you want the Japanese-inspired "chibi" look for your favorite cannon-toting video game protagonista, this is the one.
Doll parts are crocheted in spiral rounds. Materials list and definitions of stitch abbreviations are included. Written in English for right-hand crochet. Photo illustrations included, four pages total.
