Pattern Description:

Arrgh! Salty the Pirate Octopus might look rough and tough with his missing eye and all, but really he's a softie at heart. He's the perfect size for small hands and makes a great gift for anyone who likes pirates or octopuses (octopi?) or BOTH!

He works up very quickly and is a great project for someone who is just starting out with amugurumi.

Permission is granted to sell finished items made using this pattern.


8 sc and 9 rows= 2"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished octopus is approx. 5" tall and span of tentacles is approx. 7 1/2" across


  • Small amount of red worsted weight yarn
  • Small amount of black worsted weight yarn
  • Small amount of brown worsted weight yarn
  • Small amount of white worsted weight yarn
  • Polyester stuffing
  • One 10mm black safety eye (or colour of your choice)
  • A US G/4mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Straight pins
