Pattern Description:
Learn how to crochet amigurumi with this super simple photo tutorial! We start out with a basic lesson on the magic adjustable ring and work in the round to make adorable baby monster amigurumi. Make dozens in no time with all that scrap yarn! Change their faces to make them fierce or friendly.

About the Designer
I started CraftyisCool in 2007 when I had trouble finding Yo Gabba Gabba toys for my little boys. I crocheted my first toy and after many requests for the pattern, I started up an online shop and a Ravelry store soon after. I started CraftyisCool in 2007 when I had trouble finding Yo Gabba Gabba toys for my little boys. I crocheted my first toy and after many requests for the pattern, I started up an online shop and a Ravelry store soon after. I created a Conan O'Brien doll and teamed up with Mike Mitchell from I'm With Coco for a giveaway. The doll went viral and was blogged about by everyone from Perez Hilton to Entertainment Weekly.
After I sent a big crocheted blimp to Conan O'Brien on a whim, he posted a picture of himself with his gift on his blog, Twitter page, and Facebook showing off my handiwork to the world. Soon after came several tweets from Pee-wee Herman, linking his followers to my Pee-wee, Chairry, and Jambi dolls, as well as several famous faces posing with dolls I created in their likenesses. Jimmy Kimmel was gifted a little Jimmy for his birthday from his sister, who had seen my work online.
My patterns now range from nesting penguins to Wonder Woman. I've been published in Spool magazine and will be featured in a 2012 Amigurumi calendar by Interweave Press. I have designed for both Lion Brand and Caron yarn companies. I recently started selling patterns and toys here on my own site, craftyiscool.com. I was a vendor at Renegade Craft Fair in May 2011. For the summer of 2011, I created multiple pieces for a gallery show in Los Angeles, celebrating retro video games. I also had a Star Wars-themed piece in Bear and Bird gallery's Stitch Wars Strikes Back. My Flaming C doll was featured in the Coco MOCA, the Conan O'Brien Museum of Conan Art, at the San Diego Comic Con in July. In the fall of 2011, my crocheted Conan Blimp and lil' Conan doll were both in the New York Coco MOCA, an art exhibit in Manhattan celebrating Conan's special week of shows in New York.
In the Fall of 2013 my first crochet book will be published by Lark Crafts! I can't tell you too much about it yet, but if you like what you've seen here, I think it will be right up your alley!
