Bears need accessories, too, right? I designed this little sun hat for a special little teddy bear, but it would also be a lovely addition to a doll's wardrobe. Inspired by floppy brimmed straw hats and crocheted with natural hemp cord, this hat has a rustic look, but adding a little ribbon and a few flowers gives it a romantically Victorian flair, especially with the ruffled brim. The hemp cord is sturdy enough that the hat holds its shape without starching and it's also strong enough to withstand extensive handling, so it is suitable for a child's toy as well as a purely decorative accessory.
Gauge is not terribly important for this project.

I've been crafting in one way or another since my mother first allowed me to use scissors. College and a few years in the Army slowed me down quite a bit, but I picked the crochet hook back up in earnest in 2009 and I haven't looked back!
