Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Crocheting in the round.
  • Chain stitch.
  • Single crochet stitch.
  • Half daouble crochet stitch.
  • Increasing and decreasing.

Pattern Description:

Includes one PDF file on 10 pages with all the instructions needed to make your own toy mouse.

Pattern is written in English, using US crochet terminology. I included detailed instructions, many step-by-step photos and useful tips and tricks.

In this tutorial I will explain starting a piece with an adjustable loop (magic ring), finishing a piece, joining pieces, knotting and hiding yarn tails. Pattern includes unlimited support from me via email.

For a little preview, take a look at the first three pages - http://engsidrun.spire.ee/blogs/media/blogs/a/patterns/EN-044.04_preview.pdf

Gauge:

You can use the same pattern to make smaller or larger toys by using finer or bulkier yarns. Make sure to pick a crochet hook at least a size smaller than suggested on the yarn label and crochet tightly enough to achieve a tight gauge that will not allow the stuffing to show through the fabric.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 38 cm (15") with worsted weight wool blend and a 3,50 mm crochet hook.
  • 14 cm (5 1/2") with fingering weight wool blend and a 1,50 mm crochet hook.

Materials:

  • Yarn. I used worsted weight wool and acrylic blend, 50 g = 80 m (50 g = 80 yd) / 10 ply / 9 wpi. You will need about 125g of yarn for the body, 12g for the vest and just a bit for the nose.
  • 3,25 - 4,25 mm crochet hook (US size D-G) or according to the yarn.
  • Polyester fiberfill, wool, wadding etc. for stuffing.
  • 12 mm (1/2") safety toy eyes or buttons, beads, felt etc.
  • Button.
  • Yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker.

Suggested yarn:

200 meters of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:
