Hugo the Hippo

from Yarn & Hook
(4) Name: 'Crocheting : Hugo the Hippo
Hugo the Hippo Hugo the Hippo

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Single Crochet
  • Increase
  • Decrease

Pattern Description:

This is a cute little toy that is perfect for little babies who are just learning the coordination to grab toys. His arms and legs are the perfect size for tiny hands to hold onto. He is quite small only standing around 9 inches tall after he is completed.

This hippo is different from most amigurami you will find. Each piece is not sewn onto the next after it is completed. Instead it is crocheted directly onto the previous section, making this hippo almost a no-sew. The only parts that are sewn on are the ears and tail.

I have made many adorable crocheted toys for my kids, but most of them get played with only a couple of times. Strangely this one is different. This one they fight over.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 9 inches tall

  • Hook Size F
  • Small Amount of Gray Yarn
  • Blunt Needle to Weave Ends
  • 9 mm eyes
  • Stuffing
