Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Make a magic circle
  • Single crochet in the round
  • single crochet in rows
  • Embroider the surface chain stitch (optional)

Pattern Description:

This cute little guy won't do any damage to your garden or leave a slimy trail. Use up your yarn scraps and make a few!

His body is worked in the round and the shell is worked in three pieces, then stitched together. He works up quickly and would make a great addition to an Easter basket!

Make his shell in a variegated yarn for a swirled effect without the need to add surface embroidery. :)

Gauge isn't critical but if you insist:
8 sts and 9 rows= 2"

  • Small amount of worsted weight yarn in two colours
  • Small amount of sport weight yarn (optional)
  • Polyester stuffing
  • Size G/4mm crochet hook
  • stitch marker
  • yarn needle
