This crochet pattern includes the Elspeth bear, her bonnet, shirt, ruffled panties, diaper bag, blanket, pillow, and tiny teddy. Her booties are not removable, but the other clothing is. This version of Elspeth is made from size 20 cotton thread, and a size 10 hook. Elspeth is 3-3/4 inches tall, and the tiny teddy is 1-3/4 inches tall.
Elspeth is 5-way jointed, with a disk and cotter-pin jointed head, and thread-jointed arms and legs. The tiny teddy has a stationary head, and thread-jointed limbs. You can make Elspeth in different sizes by using other threads or yarns; just use the same size thread and hook for the bear and her clothes.
Gage is not an issue if you use the same size thread and hook for all pattern pieces; however, when you are making 2 pieces that must be the same size, such as arms and legs, it's best to make both pieces at the same time.

I am passionate about crochet. I enjoy knitting too, but it goes much slower than crochet, and I prefer instant gratification! Actually, I don’t think I've ever met a craft that I didn’t like, from cross-stitch to folk painting to jewelry making, but I always come back to crochet.

I'm a southern girl - born in Alabama and raised on 3 continents. Daughter and wife of military men, I've lived in Morocco, Taiwan, Germany, and South Korea. I currently live in the Texas Hill Country with my much loved DH and two miniature schnauzers, Max and Beau. Retired from Federal Service, I can now crochet to my heart's content!
