Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Single crochet, half-double crochet, slip-stitch
  • increase, decrease

Pattern Description:

Having worked with early childhood age children for many years, I've seen how young children enjoy a "grab 'n' go" friend. Mongo Monkey is just waiting to be taken along for some fun! Caution: Don't over stuff Mongo's head and body. Over stuffing will cause the added on face, arms and legs to appear too small for the body.

Not critical for this project. Work tightly enough to ensure that the stuffing will not show through the stitches.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • approx. 10 1/2" sitting

  • worsted wt. yarn: main color (418 yds.), contrast color (99 yds.)
  • Crochet Hook: size H8 (5.00mm)

You Will Also Need:

  • 9mm black toy safety eyes (or embroidery thread for eyes)
  • easily removable safety pins or stitch markers that "lock"
  • large-eyed blunt needle
  • polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • black yarn for nostrils: small amount
  • long straight pins

Suggested yarn:

517 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Any worsted weight

Any color you'd like your monkey to be!
