Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Single crochet, half-double crochet, slip-stitch
  • increase, decrease

Pattern Description:

Having worked with early childhood age children for many years, I've seen how young children enjoy a "grab 'n' go" friend. Mongo Monkey is just waiting to be taken along for some fun! Caution: Don't over stuff Mongo's head and body. Over stuffing will cause the added on face, arms and legs to appear too small for the body.

Gauge:

Not critical for this project. Work tightly enough to ensure that the stuffing will not show through the stitches.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • approx. 10 1/2" sitting

Materials:

  • worsted wt. yarn: main color (418 yds.), contrast color (99 yds.)
  • Crochet Hook: size H8 (5.00mm)

You Will Also Need:

  • 9mm black toy safety eyes (or embroidery thread for eyes)
  • easily removable safety pins or stitch markers that "lock"
  • large-eyed blunt needle
  • polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • black yarn for nostrils: small amount
  • long straight pins

Suggested yarn:

517 yards of Worsted weight
