Pattern Description:

How she came to be: my friend asked me to make five different Disney Princess amigurumi dolls for her five daughters: Belle, Rapunzel, Ariel, Tiana, and Aurora. I had a lot of fun sketching up the design ideas and writing the patterns, and I wanted to share the patterns with other fellow yarn lovers out in Internet Land.

Something that sets this pattern apart: I wanted to give Belle the big head and super-cute face details typical of Japanese Kawaii style (think Hello Kitty and Power Puff Girls). I also designed her hair to be fast and easy to stitch up--I detest the tedium of knotting individual strands onto a dolls head!

Gauge:

With E hook, 10 sc x 10 rows = 2 inches square

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

6 inches (16cm) tall and 3 inches (8cm) wide at base

E/3.5mm hook and F/3.75mm hook
(2) 9mm black plastic eye posts with safety backing
100% acrylic worsted weight yarn in yellow, cream, and brown
About 8 inches red 6-strand embroidery floss or Perle cotton
Embroidery needle
Polyester fiberfill, 2-3 handfuls
About 1/2 cup plastic pellets or dry beans for weight
Nylon stocking or 8-inch-square stretchy mesh fabric for encasing pellets
Yarn needle
Scissors
Large-headed pins
