I was inspired by the Scarlet O'Hara lawn party dress she wore at the beginning of Gone With The Wind. It's not an exact duplicate, but it captures the essence of the period. Straight out of an antebellum tableau comes our southern belle. Dress her in the ruffled dress made from cabled cotton (or substitute worsted weight acrylic) accented with "velvet" chenille and thread; pantaloons and shoes made from perle (or substitute #10); picture hat made from size 3 cotton thread with chenille hat band.
With G hook and worsted weight: 4 sts and 5 sc rows or 2 dc rows = 1 inch. With D hook and size 3 thread or chenille 6 sc = 1 inch. 11 sc rnds = 2 inches. With size 7 steel hook & #5 perle cotton or #10 thread 3 pattern sts of (sc, ch 2) = 1 inch. 7 rows pattern st = 1 inch.
