Have you ever wanted to crochet a teddy bear from mohair yarn, but feel a little bit uneasy about working with fuzzy thread? It's easy to feel intimidated by mohair and eyelash yarn if you don't know the techniques that make it a lot easier. This pattern gives detailed, step by step instructions telling you how to crochet a bear from mohair or other fuzzy yarn using a size 5 crochet hook (1.9mm). The bear is 5.5 inches tall.
The pattern is clearly written, with a great deal of detail. It includes instructions for jointing all four limbs and the head with cotter pins and disks. For the less adventurous, I've also included detailed instructions on how to thread-joint the arms and legs.
You'll want to accessorize your beautiful bear, so you'll find that this pattern also includes instructions to crochet a cowboy hat and vest, a feminine hat, scarf, and handbag, and a sailor hat and bow tie. All the accessories are made with size 10 crochet thread and a size 7 hook (1.65mm). Color pictures are included of all the finished items.
The pattern has 20 pages of photos and instructions, including a list of abbreviations, internet sources of supply, and a crochet thread comparison chart.
Gage is not an issue, but you will want to make both arms and/or legs in one sitting in order to avoid tension differences that can result in uneven limbs.

I am passionate about crochet. I enjoy knitting too, but it goes much slower than crochet, and I prefer instant gratification! Actually, I don’t think I've ever met a craft that I didn’t like, from cross-stitch to folk painting to jewelry making, but I always come back to crochet.

I'm a southern girl - born in Alabama and raised on 3 continents. Daughter and wife of military men, I've lived in Morocco, Taiwan, Germany, and South Korea. I currently live in the Texas Hill Country with my much loved DH and two miniature schnauzers, Max and Beau. Retired from Federal Service, I can now crochet to my heart's content!
