Basic Skills Necessary:

  • work with 2 colours of yarn
  • ch, sc, sl-st
  • whip stitch ends or sc crochet ends

Pattern Description:

Missed giving that gift to your love on Valentine's day?? No worries.. Love is still and always in the air!
Make this quick project in a few hours, just in time for that night-time cocoa or favourite hot beverage, and all's lovely and rosy in your world again.

This is a simple repeat pattern that I've designed especially for, and tested during the Ravellenic Games (2014).
Skill : Easy / advanced beginner ; will take max 6 hrs to complete.
All you should know are basic sts : ch, sc and sl-st. Additionally, you need to know how to 'whip st' ends, and /or sc crochet together to join your cute mug hug.

This project has been tested using :
a) 4-ply acrylic fingering yarn, Oswal mills , abt 10 g / 42 yds ; 4 mm crochet hook ;

b) Bernat Handicrafter Cotton , 1 oz total or 60 yards ; H / 5.00 ; Gauge ;4 rows x 2 sets of esc's = 1" ;
Comments : Clear instructions and photo tutorial ; took about 2 hrs ; Mug is about 3.5" high - so using the heavier yarn, started with ch 12 ;
Skill level by tester : intermediate or advanced beginner

c) Regia Flusi Das Socken Monster (Blue) & 4ply from stash (green), 14g 2 = 7g each ; 4 mm crochet hook ;
Comments : Nice pattern, clear instructions, well explained , took about 3 hrs ;
Skill level by tester : Easy

d) Peter Pan 4-ply, almost 20g used ; 4 mm crochet hook;
Comments : Clear instructions & photo tutorial; took about 4 hrs ;
Skill level by tester : Advanced beginner

e) Fingering yarn ; 18 gms ; 4 mm crochet hook ;
Comments : Clear instructions and photos ; took a few hours ;
Skill level by tester : Easy

Gauge:

not critical as long as you get the height desired for your mug

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • (H) 3.75" ; diameter variable

Materials:

  • 4 / 4.25 mm (US 6, G) crochet hook
  • optional : embroidery needle to whip stitch ends

Suggested yarn:

50 yards of Fingering weight
