Basic Skills Necessary:

Pattern Description:

Varying the height of the crochet stitches from sc to hdc to dc serves to shape these easy to crochet eggs, as well as provide alternating waves of color.

Arrange them as table or plate decorations or hang them from branches. Better yet, fill each with a surprise. The small egg is the perfect size for those famous creme eggs that come around just once a year.

Gauge:

8 sc and 8 1/2 rows = 2" (5cm) using Bernat Handicrafter(r) yarn.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Small egg finishes approx 2" long x 5" around
  • Large egg approx 2 1/2" long x 6 1/4" around

Materials:

  • Knitting worsted weight cotton or cotton blend, such as Bernat Handicrafter(r) Cotton. 2 colors are needed for each egg. The samples shown required less than 1 ball of each
  • Crochet hook One 4.0mm (U.S. G-6*).

You Will Also Need:

  • Filling: Plastic or candy eggs, approx 1 1/2" long, (including Cadbury Creme Eggs) for small egg to 2 1/4" long for large egg, or a small amount of stuffing.
  • Ribbon (optional): 1/4" to 1/2" wide: approx 12" for bow and/or 12" for hanging loop.
  • Yarn needle: for weaving in ends
