Pattern Description:

Since I live in Kansas, I thought I would do an Oz series of Bookmarks. Here is the Dorothy and Toto Reading Character Bookmark for anyone who loves adventure. The pattern includes an option of Toto in a basket.

Toto can hang outside the book to remind any reader that there is more story to go. Her three-dimensional head with braids hangs outside the book.

What a delightful gift to give to anyone who loves to read. This is a fun bookmark to make.

Gauge:

8 hdc = 1 inch (2.5cm),
5 hdc rows = 1 inch (2.5cm)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

3 1/2 inches (9cm) wide by 7 inches (18cm) long

Materials:

It uses small amounts of crochet thread and many colors can be used so it is a great project to use up small amounts of size 10 crochet thread
13 yards peach (or choice of skin color)
12 yards cream (or choice of shirt & sock color)
19 yards delft blue (or choice of dress, basket napkin and eye color)
2 yards red (or choice of Ruby Slippers color)
4 yards coppery mist (or choice of basket color) if Toto in Basket Option chosen
4 yards black (or choice of Toto color)
Small amount red (or choice of mouth color) Could also use embroidery floss
1 skein brown (or choice of hair color) embroidery floss
You will need a Boye Steel Crochet hook size 1 (2.25mm) or Aluminum Crochet hook size B. This is a larger size hook than usually used with thread crochet and makes working with thread crochet easier for those who are not comfortable with thread.

You Will Also Need:

1 black seed bead for Toto's eye
Small amount of polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle
Washable fabric glue
