Willow was my first doily blanket pattern. I created it for the Fall 2011 issue of CraftSanity Magazine. It yields a generously sized lap blanket. Use an acrylic yarn for a durable throw blanket for your couch or use your favorite wool to create a warm blanket for chilly evenings. If this is your first time making a doily, read the pattern before you start and then follow each row very closely. Stitch counts are provided at the end of each pattern row, to make it easier to keep track of where you are.
The lace pattern makes gauge unimportant, but the first two rounds should be about 3.25" in diameter.

My mom taught me to crochet a granny square. I made a giant one and gave it to my cat. A few weeks later, I was on to reading patterns. A year later, I picked up some knitting needles. I've been knitting and crocheting my evenings away since.
