Pattern Description:

I am a giver of handmade gifts.

I am ALWAYS looking for something that can be handmade for babies or handmade for kitchens and baths.

This is one of my FAVORITE Dishcloths/Washcloths. It is based on a pattern that my grandmother made when I was growing up in the 1950's. I am positive that she had been making them for years because she never had to look at a pattern. She would just pick up her cotton thread and crochet hook and soon, she would have one made.

As a way for her to earn money, she was a widow living off of her husband's pension, she would make these and send them with my aunt to work. As soon as the women at the factory heard she had some of "Grandma's Dishcloths" she would be sold out.

If memory serves me right, in 1961, she was selling these for $0.75 a piece . . . what a bargain! They last for years and seldom, if ever, get that mildew-y smell that most dishcloths/washcloths get.

I have made this with different colors for different rounds and, of course I can't find any pictures of them, they are just adorable.

The one you see in the pictures was made for a friend who loves lavender. What do you think?

100% of the purchase price for the pattern goes to Natalie's 2nd Chance Shelter, a no-kill dog shelter in my home state of Indiana. It is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
