Pattern Description:

Sweet and silly owls make a lovely blanket for a special someone. Blanket pictured is baby-sized, but you can make it any size you like.

Skill level: Intermediate -- i.e. this is not an easy/beginner project. However, the pattern was written with a HUGE amount of photos with step-by-step instructions in standard American terms. My desire is that a dedicated beginner would be able to make this blanket.

Excellent Wonderful afghan pattern  September 8, 2013

When I saw this afghan pattern, I broke out my crochet hooks that I'd tucked away for years. It was an exciting pattern to crochet because you crochet it in pieces and then attach it all together. It was really fun to give the owls personalities as I was attaching the eyes and beaks.

Excellent Loved seeing this blanket take shape!  August 22, 2013

This is a fab pattern. I made it in some old bits of pink and white wool for a friend who is having a baby girl. I also played around making an owl in a heavier aran weight wool and it looks brilliant, that will be my next project but I'll make it much bigger x

Excellent Love this pattern!  June 25, 2013

Though this pattern is easy, it is very time consuming. I just love it! I chose to tack down the ears and when doing the eyes, I didn't use buttons as this is for a baby, I used needle point.

Excellent This afghan is so cute!  May 31, 2013

With the well written instructions and pictures this afghan is easy and fun to make. I made a few changes to the pattern, but nothing major. I also use small black pompoms for the owl eyes and the middle of the small circles to make them look like flowers.

Excellent owl obession blanket.  April 19, 2013

Was a great project, and was very happy with the out come of the pattern.
I made it for my sister who was dying with cancer, to brighten up her day.
She loved it, made it nice and bright for her.
As she is a big owl lover as well.

Excellent Owl Obssession  April 12, 2013

Loved doing this pattern and everyone has made really nice comments about it. It enables you to play around with different colours which is a plus as could not get the yarn used in the UK. Instructions were easy to follow but some basic knowledge of crocheting would be recommended.

I have made many, many, many of these afghans. Absolutely LOVE the pattern. It's adorable in all colors and super fun to make. I just had the pleasure of making it in the original lollipop for a customer...GORGEOUS!

Excellent Owl Obsession  January 29, 2013

I love this pattern!!! It was so much fun to make . I will definatley be making another one. I used a sport weight yarn so I made 3 extra owl motifs, 2 extra circle motifs and 5 extra square motifs. Finished size turned out to be 26" x 36". It's hard to tell by the picture but I used a dark brown, light pink and white. If you like cute and whimsicle then this is the pattern for you. Very well written with lots of illustrations. Might be a bit challenging for a beginner but certainly not ...

Excellent I love this pattern!!  December 17, 2012

This pattern has to be one of the best and most comprehensive patterns that I've worked with!! I loved it and it worked up pretty fast. Not sure I like the colors, but those were the colors requested by my friend.

I love the way this blanket turned out! The pattern was pretty easy to follow, and it was not difficult. It didn't take too long to finish either. Perfect baby blanket.

Excellent Super awesome and Totally Doable  November 17, 2012

You might look at this pattern and think, wow, this is super difficult. It's not, and it's the most awesome baby blankie I've ever made. You can do this - it goes by super fast because it's done in pieces, not endless rows. I used 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn, I think it was a soft one by Red Heart. Be careful when piecing together, that is where I made most of my mistakes.
