This is a very easy to make pattern for a valance. You can vary the length to suit your taste. The pattern will make one valance to fit a standard sized window. The window in the picture measures 3 feet wide. You can add or take away stitches from the base chain to make the valance wider or narrower. I used it to brighten up a dark kitchen and I am very pleased with the results. With window treatments, you can get away with using cheaper "value" yarn and that makes it a very affordable project.
1 Shell Stitch = 2.5 inches wide and 1.75 inches long

I have been crafting since I was a little girl, partly because I don't like to just sit still and do nothing! I love the feeling of finishing a project, and I love the reaction when I give a special handmade gift to one of my children or a friend. There is something very special about making something that no one else has.
If you have tried out any of my patterns, the first thing you probably noticed is that they are EASY! Why? While I love a good challenge as much as the next girl, I also like to knit and crochet to unwind after a long stressful day at the office. I often (always) work on my projects while watching TV or a movie or while spending time with my three children who like to talk... sometimes at a very fast pace and all at once. :) An easy pattern is a requirement for me. I hate frogging or as I call it un-knitting. I've made it a bit of a mission to create patterns that look difficult and impressive but actually aren't. I really hope that you enjoy making them as much as I did.
