Any child would love these bright and colorful afghans with a Caribbean theme. The girl's afghan is covered with fish, flamingos, butterflies and flowers, while the boy's afghan is covered with frogs, boats, dolphins and turtles.
The animals, plants, etc., are cross-stitched on an afghan stitch (tunisian stitch) square. The squares are done separately and then crocheted together using a connect-as-you-go technique, so the only sewing is the cross-stitch.
This pattern is written in U.S. terms.
Each square measures 5-3/4" across

I have always loved crafting!
My mom and I learned to crochet together when I was 12 because there was a crocheted vest I wanted to make. We worked through it and figured it out together. I have been crocheting ever since. My mom and I learned to crochet together when I was 12 because there was a crocheted vest I wanted to make. We worked through it and figured it out together. I have been crocheting ever since. I started writing down patterns when making snowflakes, one of my favorite projects to make. I love working on any kind of thread crochet project such as connect as you go motifs, filet crochet, etc. My other favorite crochet projects are working on my reversible designs.
I also enjoy cross stitch and knitting. Someday I hope to learn quilting and tatting.
